Brunch Menu at OAKS, Nottingham.

So for starter we opted for the Baked Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese and Toast along with some of their Pork Crackling. I thought the cheese was presented well on a slab of board and the flavour was incredible. However you need to eat it pretty swiftly as the cheese started to harden making it difficult to scoop onto the bread. I was quite disappointed by the Pork Crackling, I was full of praise for this product on my last visit but this time the crackling lacked flavour and I didn't enjoy it again as much as I had hoped. I wouldn't let that deter you trying them though, they're usually very delicious!

Now onto the main courses, oh boy didn't Oaks showcase their talent for delicious main courses with these two dishes. Whilst Jordan opted for the Salmon steak I went for the steak dish complete with fried eggs!

The main courses filled whatever they were presented on, leaving not much room for you to mix your sides into your dish. Both of the main dishes were without a doubt full of flavour, well presented and with great portion to fill your belly! My steak was a little done for a medium/rare but was a great cut of meat packed full of flavour. We both decided to have a side salad to accompany our dishes and it worked perfectly for the flavours we had in our main dishes. I definitely would have put some chips or potatoes on the side of the dish if I was ever to retry the products as I think they would compliment them better.

The only minor negative to this experience was that the prosecco was enjoyable but slightly flat (probably because it was from the tap so it lost all of it's fizz, slightly disappointing but we enjoyed it nonetheless!)
Definitely head to OAKS in Nottingham if your after something on the meat side and that uses local sources to bring you the best local flavours on offer! I will definitely be heading there for their steak night in the near future.
Thanks to Fiona from Tank PR and the team at OAKS for making us feel welcome on our visit.
