Ibis Styles Southwark Rose, London

London is known for many things; iconic landmarks like the London Eye and Big Ben, it’s many places to eat or shop, depending on your preference. There’s many other things which makes London one of the most popular places in the UK to visit and why so many people love it so much. The one thing that London is most known for is it's incredible and iconic West End theatres. Finding a comfortable, affordable hotel that embraces a night at the theatre is hard to find but at last I found it in London's Ibis Styles London Southwark , making it now my ultimate go to hotel in London.

The hotel near Borough Market, London’s most renowned food and drink market is inspired by the imaginative stores that are brought to life on stage every night in the capital. The designer took his inspiration from London’s West End musical showstoppers and it’s good fun matching the interior to it’s musical home. There is a real strong theatre aesthetic from the lobby to the bedroom, the bright lights of a variety of lamps at each corner illuminating a relaxing atmosphere for the evening. On the wall there’s many a musical poster, from Kiss Me Kate which was in fact the first musical I ever saw in London to the more recent like Wicked. The interior is playful and individual, not every chair, coffee table or lamp is the same.

From the moment I arrived at the hotel I was completely mesmerised by it’s design, comfortably and efficient customer service to get us checked in. It’s every attention paid to detail as even in the lift it’s been taken over by the green of Emerald City and a image of the famous yellow brick road, if you're not already singing ‘We’re off to see The Wizard, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz’ then you aren’t in the right accommodation. We noticed as we left the lift to get to our room that evening the carpet showed designs of the twister that takes Dorothy to Oz.

Our room was fitted with intricate finishing touches of a witches hat and a silver hat symbolising the good and the bad in Wizard of Oz. The darker textures of the finishes touches didn’t mean that the room felt dark at all, in fact the opposite as the huge amounts of natural light coming from the window really helped to brighten the place. The room itself was spacious, comfortable and had all essentials needed for a great night’s sleep. The free WIFI on site was really useful in doing all of those social media updates a blogger needs or even just to figure out an itinerary of the next day, because when in London you’ve got to make the most of it. The connection is really easy to sign up to and to be using within minutes, having been at Ibis hotels before it already had the details it needed to get me connected. After a trip to the theatre to see Mamma Mia there was nothing like getting in the cosy bed and drifting off to a quiet night's sleep, what I loved about the stay too was despite being in the capital I was disturbed through the night by sirens and the hustle and bustle of the city during a weekend.

The hotel’s breakfast is a continental spread of tea and coffee, croissants, cereal and much more. It’s all unlimited and the cost is included in your room rate, if your still hungry after breakfast there’s a fabulous venue called The Breakfast Club within minutes for you to tuck into something more meaty if you wish!

The hotel is also in walking distance to London Bridge's station should you wish to get to other parts of the capital to explore during your stay, we managed to enjoy a couple of 20-30 minute walks towards Covent Garden along the Embankment which was lovely on a summers day.

I expect that in future visits to London I will be booking another stay at the hotel, it was undoubtedly a hotel that applies to my personal interests. If you are on the lookout for a hotel with a real authentic and fun feel to it then the Ibis Styles London Southwark hotel should definitely be on your list.
