The Spring/Summer Menu at Bistrot Pierre.

Bistrot Pierre provides both great provincial French cooking and relaxed and friendly atmospheres at their restaurants across the UK. I took my first visit to my local restaurant in October 2017 (read the review) and ever since have been raving about the cuisine offered at this place. I was delighted to be invited back to get a flavour of their Spring and Summer menu, I was not disappointed and again another great experience within their restaurant.

The food on offer is Anglo-French, a combination of English and French flavours. The dishes are freshly prepared by their chefs daily by using carefully sourced ingredients from local producers and artisan French producers and suppliers. The restaurant does offer classic Bistrot favourites within their menu alongside some seasonal dishes too.

Their new Spring/Summer has some fantastic dishes on offer to keep the good vibes right in the heart of your dining experience. I love the interior and atmosphere in Bistrot Pierre, I always come away feeling full of good fulfillment. You can have a peak of their new menu here if you're interested.

To begin with, I went for the Fritôt de Brie. This choice was a no-brainer for me, brie is my favourite so I had to try this new starter. The deep-fried brie comes in a crisp rosemary crumb served with dressed leaves and a lightly spiced pear chutney. Fried brie is almost a familiar bland flavour but paired with the chutney gives it a short, fruity kick that makes it truely delicious. The flavours pair well together in this dish and I would highly recommend it for fellow cheese lovers out there!

Jordan decided to sample the Salade de canard. This is a new Vietnamese crispy duck salad with soy, chilli, ginger, coriander and sesame seeds. Jordan said he thoroughly enjoyed this starter and it was full of flavour. The duck within the salad was great and cooked to perfection, very soft.

It was very difficult to choose a main for our visit because there was so much to choose from that sounded great. I opted for something I would definitely not usually go for. During Summer I love creating salad dishes, I find them really refreshing and so easy to eat during warmer days. I decided to try out one of their salad dishes, both for inspiration and to see whether it was as good as the one I made at home ;). Their salade de poulet is a new grilled chicken and avocado salad. The salad comes with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, radish and grain mustard dressing. There was so much of it I was surprised I eat as much as I did, the salad comes with a bowl of fries too. I loved the flavours of chicken and avocado within a salad, I have only gone as far as avo on toast so this new combination was super nice and not what I had expected at all. I'm looking forward to recreating a salad dish like this for myself at home this summer!

Jordan doesn't usually go for chicken dishes at restaurants so I was surprised when he ordered the Poulet Normandie. The dish is half a slow-roasted Normandy chicken that is served with roasted garlic and parsley butter, dressed leaves and fries. He noted that the chicken was lovely and juicy with beautiful texture. A lot of places that do chicken dishes tend to be quite dry and not with any flavour so I was glad Jordan's chicken was cooked without losing that texture. Jordan was apprenshive about the lack of sides that came with the chicken dish but in hindsight a great decision as the meal was incredibly filling.

Of course we made room for pudding! What's more Summery than strawberries. I can't wait for the strawberries to be ripe so I can pick some up at our local fields. On that note, we went for the Méli Mélo de Fraises et Meringue. This was exactly what I needed. Strawberry ice cream with fresh strawberries, crushed meringue, marshmallows, pistachios, strawberry coulis and creme Chantilly. We had ours without pistachios due to Jordan's allergies but it didn't make too much of a different, it was still so nice! I can't wait to enjoy meringue's with ice cream and fresh strawberries this summer.
