The Grange Hotel, York.

After a day exploring in a new city, there's nothing like being able to get back to your hotel so you can put your feet up and enjoy a marshmallow-like bed. We found just the ticket on our recent trip to York when we stayed at The Grange Hotel in York.

The hotel is a luxury, 4 star hotel that offers everything someone needs for the perfect night stay in York.

The Grange Hotel is a classic Regency townhouse with has tons of history within the walls dating back as far as 1829. It has been transformed into a quirky boutique hotel that combines exposed brickwork with industrial lighting to give it a really luxury edge. The Grange Hotel is also in great walking distance to York's main city centre attractions, just 10 minutes from the iconic York Minister so it's no wonder why it is a popular with visitors to the city.

It's interior is dotted with period antiques and luxurious Regency style decor throughout. It had a recent significant refurbishment in 2016 that brought the addition of lifts to all floors, premier ground floor rooms and the development of the building's historic cellars into a stunning 2 Rosette restaurant "The Ivy Brasserie". The hotel contains 41 rooms that include flat screen LCD TVs, Taylors of Harrogate hospitality tray, laptop safes, free WiFi and luxury toiletries from the White Company.  There's also the addition of underfloor heating, air conditioning and TVs in the bathrooms of the Premier rooms in the hotel.

We felt relaxed throughout our stay at The Grange Hotel. The hotel comes with on-site parking but this is limited so definitely something to consider if you are visiting during peak times. We managed to park quite comfortably behind the hotel and this meant it was easier to carry our luggage in and out of the hotel.

Our room was situated on the second floor and front of the hotel. The room was incredibly spacious but felt equally cosy. There was enough space to move around the room and great storage space within the wardrobe to keep our belongings safe. Despite the scorching hot temperatures of the heatwave and the location of our room we managed to stay pretty cool, the hotel did provide a desk fan which was welcomed after an afternoon of walking around York.

Our one problem during our stay was that there was a problem with the hotel's boiler which meant that we had no water for at least 12 hours. This did result in our plans for the day being moved whilst we waited for it to work again so we could enjoy a shower. The staff were very efficient in resulting the issue once we were notified that the entire hotel was affected and not just our room. All in all, our room offered us the comfortable stay we were after whilst visiting York and we'd definitely stay again.

The hotel is also dog friendly and can accommodate your four legged friend for a extra charge of £20 to your stay.

If you are looking for an affordable, luxurious hotel in the perfect city centre location then The Grange Hotel is definitely the place to stay!

Fine Dining in York

The stay at The Grange Hotel included breakfast in the morning and we definitely enjoyed waking up and wandering downstairs to their on-site restaurant, The Ivy Brasserie. The restaurant can be found in the cellars of The Grange Hotel and is a contemporary 2 Rosette fine dining serving up classic food with a French influence. The atmosphere is really quite something in the Ivy Brasserie and it really feels quite luxurious. The restaurant often runs Live Music from 7pm and it's a great way to start your weekend. We arrived on the Friday evening and were lucky enough to enjoy some live music whilst sipping on a G&T.

The breakfast menu at the hotel is a great selection of continental and hot breakfast. I tucked into a delicious Eggs Benedict type dish which came with spinach, eggs and hollandaise sauce. The restaurant fills you up nicely before you head out on a exploration of everything that York has to offer.

*complimentary stay in return for an honest review.
