BBC Good Food Show Winter 2018, Birmingham NEC

The BBC Good Food Show is an annual event for foodies alike to enjoy. Heading to Birmingham twice a year, their shows provide the perfect inspiration for your food and drink needs. Their flagship Winter Show is packed with top chefs and experts, the most inspiring ideas for the festive season as well as the chance to shop from hundreds of producers and brands all in one place.

I was invited on behalf of The Ticket Factory* to check it out and what better way to get into the festive spirit than being surrounded by delicious food and drink to enjoy.

There's so much to check out at the event, some of the biggest names in food take to the Big Kitchen for live demonstrations, sharing their recipe ideas and easy inspiration to make sure your Christmas cooking stands out this year. The likes of Paul Hollywood, Mary BerryJames Martin and Tom Kerridge take to the stage this year. There's also the Winter Kitchen which gives more tips and techniques for you for the festive season. You can also attend drink tasting events whilst you are here to learn more about specific drinks, including whisky.

One of the additions to the show that definitely draws my interest was the Skills School. This gives you the hands-on masterclasses like knife skills, sourdough making and naked cake decorating to help you become more of a whizz in the kitchen.

Exploring amongst the many stalls of different brands and producers was overwhelming, there's so much that we're pretty sure that we missed some without realising. There's everything from tea, cakes, cooking equipment, food subscription services and lots of Gin. The Gin market has really expanded in the last few years so I was excited to see some of my favourite brands in attendance as well as try some new gin's.

Whilst we were browsing the stalls, it was the perfect time to purchase a few Christmas gifts. The stalls had a great variety of affordable offers for you to take advantage of too. I purchased the Christmas Gin from Edinburgh Gin which will definitely be my tipple of choice this season. I sampled The King's Ginger and Warner Edwards Honeybee Gin, they were definitely tipples I want my hands on in the future!

We were gutted that this time around we weren't able to go to any of the live shows. They all sounded fantastic and can give you the opportunity to see some of your favourite names in the food industry give a live demo.

I definitely felt more inspired to get into the kitchen after this event and thoroughly enjoyed sampling food and seeing some great brands from across the country.

Looking ahead to 2019, the BBC Good Food Show will be back for their Summer show at the NEC in Birmingham. You can head to the venue between 13-16 June to be entertained by great chefs, do some shopping, taste some tasty delights and be inspired.
