REVIEW | Baby Dinosaur, Dave Bibby

Dave Bibby's show Baby Dinosaur may just be the best one-man show I've ever seen.

His electric stage presence always feeling both in complete chaos and complete control helped to bring this absolutely mad endeavour into some semblance of a carefully crafted show.

Much like the characters in Jurassic Park, as the audience, we don't really know what we're letting ourselves in for, but it's going to be a wild ride either way!

Dave's show is 3 years in the making, pre-COVID he wanted to make a one-man Jurassic Park film on stage. I'm not sure what but in 2020 there happened to be something that put a stop to that idea, and then they had a baby.

I don't want to ruin the whole show so I will leave it there.

The show is a mash-up of what was meant to be and what actually happened. As an audience, we fully went with it, doing lines from the film, sound effects even getting on stage, and it felt like one thing, pure unbridled joy. We were all experiencing this thing together, whatever it was and we loved it.

People around me, including myself laughed until we cried. Dave's delivery is precise but also cheeky and you really feel with him throughout the whole thing.

If you get a chance to see this show, I only have one thing to say: "Hold onto your butts"
