New musical based on David Baddiel's best-selling book The Parent Agency announced
Directed by Tim Jackson (Two Strangers (Carry A Cake Across New York)) and with music by Dan Gillespie Sells (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), a new British musical based on David Baddiel’s best-selling book, The Parent Agency, will open at the Storyhouse Chester early next year.
The Parent Agency is a humorous children's novel about a boy named Barry who, unhappy with his strict parents, finds himself in a magical world where he can choose his ideal parents from a selection of quirky candidates. Through his adventures, Barry learns valuable lessons about family, love, and the importance of appreciating what he has.
2024 marks the 10th anniversary of Baddiel’s much-loved, the-grass-is-always-greener debut adventure, which has sold over 355,000 copies worldwide.
The creative team is completed by choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille (Dear Evan Hansen), costume designer Sarah Mercadé (The Spongebob Musical), lighting designer Zoe Spurr (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) and Assistant Director Francesca Hsieh (VANYA), with casting by Jill Green CDG and Amy Beadel CDG.
The cast will be announced soon.
The Parent Agency will play at the Storyhouse Chester from 15 February - 2 March 2025.
