Disney’s Freaky Friday - The Musical announces UK Premiere

Based on the beloved 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers and the hit Disney films, Freaky Friday The Musical announces its UK stage premiere in 2025.

The premiere run, headed to HOME Manchester and presented by Paul Taylor-Mills (Heathers, The Lightning Thief), is planned for 27 November—31 December 2025.

Freaky Friday will be directed by Andy Fickman, known for bringing the cult-classic Heathers from screen to stage and features a book by Bridget Carpenter, acclaimed co-executive producer and writer of beloved television series Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. The musical boasts an extraordinary score by the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning team of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey (Next to Normal, If/Then).

The musical tells the heartwarming and comedic story of an overworked mother and her rebellious teenage daughter who magically swap bodies for a day. As they navigate each other’s lives, they gain a new understanding of one another’s challenges and perspectives. Through humorous and heartfelt moments, they must find a way to reverse the switch before an important family wedding. Freaky Friday The Musical will be the perfect musical for the whole family.

Tickets for the premiere go on sale from 10am on 13 December 2024, with casting to be announced in due course.
