Full cast announced for DOUBT a parable at Theatre Royal Bath
The full cast has been announced for John Patrick Shanley’s award-winning drama DOUBT a parable which runs at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from February 2025.
Directed by Lindsay Posner (A View From The Bridge), Olivier Award winner Ben Daniels (The Normal Heart, National Theatre), West End star Rachel John (Girl From The North Country) and Holly Godliman (The Woman in Cabin 10) join the previously announced Maxine Peake.
Twenty years after first being performed off-Broadway, DOUBT a parable has since gone on to huge international acclaim and was filmed in 2008 with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The play is set in a Catholic school in the Bronx, 1964. There Sister Aloysius, the resolute principal, begins to suspect that one of the priests may be abusing a vulnerable student. With no concrete evidence, she takes matters into her own hands. As her investigation pieces fall sharply into place, the gripping narrative raises complex questions about moral certainty and conviction.
The creative team for the production is completed by Set and Costume Designer Peter McKintosh Lighting Designer Paul Pyant and Casting Director Ginny Schiller CDG.
DOUBT a parable will play from 7 February - 8 March 2025.
