Maxine Peake to star in DOUBT a parable at Theatre Royal Bath
The award-winning actress Maxine Peake will star in a brand-new production of John Patrick Shanley’s award-winning drama, DOUBT a parable in Bath early next year.
The drama returns to the stage twenty years after first being performed off-Broadway. It has since gone to huge international acclaim and was filmed in 2008 starring Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The play is set in a Catholic school in the Bronx, 1964. There Sister Aloysius, the resolute principal, begins to suspect that one of the priests may be abusing a vulnerable student. With no concrete evidence, she takes matters into her own hands. As the pieces of her investigation fall sharply into place, the gripping narrative raises complex questions about moral certainty and conviction.
DOUBT a parable will be directed by one of the UK’s most sought-after directors, Lindsay Posner who returns to Bath fresh from the West End transfers of Noises Off, A View From The Bridge and The Deep Blue Sea.
Further cast and creative team still to be announced.
DOUBT a parable will play at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from 7 February - 8 March 2025.
