Lucie Jones to lead 13 Going On 30 The Musical

The production will open in Manchester next Autumn following a workshop performance earlier this year ( which we attended, read our initial thoughts on 13 Going On 30 The Musical - is this a show to watch out for?).

West End star Lucie Jones (The Baker’s Wife, Wicked) will star as Jenna Rink in the production which opens at Manchester Opera House for a limited season from 21 September 2025.

Further casting is to be announced.

Based on the 2004 rom-com classic which starred Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo, 13 Going on 30 The Musical is written by the film writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa with songs by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner. The production will be directed by Andy Fickman.

The story follows 13-year-old Jenna who makes a wish to skip the awkward teenage years and become “thirty and flirty and thriving”. She wakes up as her 30-year-old self, a successful magazine editor, but soon realises that her adult life isn't as perfect as she imagined. Reconnecting with her childhood best friend, Matt, Jenna starts to see the mistakes she made along the way. Ultimately, she learns valuable lessons about friendship and love, and gets a second chance to live her life with authenticity and kindness.

Tickets for the UK premiere of 13 Going On 30 The Musical go on sale on 13 November at 13:30 at www.1330musical.com.
