Winners announced for the inaugural Stalls to Stage Awards

Heather Agyepong, Jo Foster, Melaine La Barrie and Rob Madge.

Organised by Bri O’Reilly and hosted by Marcus Collick, the inaugural Stalls to Stage Awards took place at the Bush Theatre on Sunday 26 January 2025.

This new event aims to celebrate the best of theatre. A total of 205 nominees were shortlisted across 25 categories, including Best Non-Binary Performer, Best Play, and Best Performance by a Cover/Alternate. The awards received over 3,500 votes, with eligibility determined by a team of creators, art makers, and theatre enthusiasts.

  • Best Actor in a Play - Andrew Scott, VANYA

  • Best Actress in a Play - Heather Agyepong, SHIFTERS

  • Best Supporting Actor in a Play - Tomiwa Edun, ROMEO & JULIET

  • Best Supporting Actress in a Play - Freema Agyeman, ROMEO & JULIET

  • Best Play - STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW

  • Best Actor in a Musical - Dónal Finn, HADESTOWN

  • Best Actress in a Musical - Caissie Levy, NEXT TO NORMAL

  • Best Actor in a Musical - Jack Wolfe, NEXT TO NORMAL and Mitchell Zhangazha, MJ THE MUSICAL

  • Best Supporting Actress in a Musical - Melaine La Barrie, HADESTOWN

  • Best Musical - HADESTOWN

  • Best Touring Production - HAMILTON

  • Best Non-Binary Performer - Jo Foster, WHY AM I SO SINGLE?

  • Best Graduate - Grace Hodgett Young, SUNSET BOULEVARD & HADESTOWN

  • Best Professional or West End Debut - Francesca Amewudah-Rivers, ROMEO AND JULIET

  • Best Takeover Performance - Madeline Charlemagne, HADESTOWN

  • Best Performance by a Cover/Alternate - Lauren Azania, HADESTOWN

  • Best Writer - Clint Dyer & Roy Williams, DEATH OF ENGLAND

  • Best Director - Lynette Linton, SHIFTERS

  • Best Casting - Jacob Sparrow, HADESTOWN, THE HOT WING KING and THE BIG LIFE

  • LGBTQ+ Champion - Rob Madge

  • Disability Champion - Amy Trigg

The awards also reflected on the community spirit showcased by individuals and organisations within the industry, the late Gavin Creel was honoured with the Special Recognition Award. The award will be renamed after the actor himself moving forwards.
