Head First Acrobats is an award-winning Australian circus company that combines high-energy acrobatics with crowd-pleasing comedy. The company has toured internationally, performing at major festivals and theatres across Australia, Europe, Asia, and beyond. They are now making their West End debut with an exhilarating show that sees Zeus, Hercules, Dionysus and Cupid stumble through the trials of Ancient Greece.

From the moment the show begins, it’s clear we’re going to be treated to some highly skilled performances, and the tricks certainly don’t disappoint. As well as acrobatics, there’s an impressive diabolo routine, trapeze work, stunts on a ladder, tricks on a tower of chairs and whip-cracking (yes, you read that right).

Lighthearted, comedic moments are woven throughout. When the audience isn’t gasping at the impressive tricks, they’re laughing at the funny character traits of each god or a section that teases full-blown nudity. Music is utilised well, with mainly upbeat song choices complementing the various routines. Lighting also adds atmosphere when needed.

Running at just over an hour straight through, GODZ is packed with impressive acrobatics and tricks, and raunchy moments that leave the crowd whooping and giggling. Co-creator of Head First Acrobats, Thomas Gorham, describes the characters as “lovable idiots”, which is where the show’s charm ultimately lies. Hopefully, this won’t be the last London sees of this talented company!

Head First Acrobats GODZ plays at Peacock Theatre until 14 June
