M’entens o t’ho explico? (Do you get it or do I explain it to you?) is a new production written by Jordi Calvet and directed by Miquel Murga. Set in 1992, right before the Barcelona Olympic Games, we meet Pol. He owns a Galician tavern that’s a complete disaster, and his wife has just left him for another man. He decides to end his own life, but his friends Jaume and Carles stop him just in time. They decide to help him out by buying a share of his business. Jaume convinces his friends to turn the place into a gay bar, and from there, hilariousness ensues!

The show brilliantly captures the essence of the era, from the outfits and figurine of Cobi (the Barcelona Olympic mascot!) to the way people spoke back then. It felt like a journey back in time, reminding me of shows from that period, like Plats Bruts (Dirty Dishes).

David Olivares, Octavi Pujades, Anna Senan, and Miquel Sitjar bring all the characters to life through quick costume changes behind the scenes. David Olivares, in particular, was extremely funny as Pol, whose life takes a drastic turn. The entire cast was rock solid, with the actors working seamlessly together to keep the audience laughing throughout the performance.

M'entens o t’ho explico will be playing at Aquitània Teatre until October 20th.
