Bakewell, Derbyshire

When Ali came over to stay for the weekend a couple of weeks ago we decided to take a trip to Bakewell in Derbyshire. It was an area I had heard of but hadn't really visited and I've had a growing curiosity over the little wonders within the Peak District. I wanted to share with you the photographs I took whilst I visited and the cute little tea room we found to enjoy some tea and cake (always a must right?).

Bakewell is the only market town within the Peak District National Park boundary and has the most beautiful courtyards, independent shops, cafes and with its location on the River Wye make it a very popular destination for tourists to the Peak District. Bakewell is also well known for the popular pudding and probably almost most visitors don't leave without trying it, the Bakewell pudding.

I enjoyed walking along the River Wye taking in a lot of the scenic views Bakewell had to offer and watching the many wildlife it had to offer.

We decided that whilst the weather was glorious we would have a wonder around the little side streets and in various shops before popping into the well know

Lavender Tea Rooms

for a spot of afternoon tea. The tea rooms were located on a busy high street, set over two floors the tea rooms can be found nestled in an old courtyard.

The tea room itself offers a selection of afternoon teas, breakfast and lunch leaving no stone unturned for it's customers. The decor is really eye catching, flamboyant and with a nice touch of retro with antiques on every wall. We opted for the cream tea choice whilst Ali went for the Lavender Tea option. All products were yummy and well presented on individual antique cups and saucers. I felt like I was like Alice in Wonderland it was fab. It would definitely be somewhere I would visit again, I'd love to try more of their food that was available for sure.

I felt like we didn't explore Bakewell as much as I would have liked to and I felt like there was so much still yet to discover. It was such a lovely town so hopefully, I'll find some time over the summer to rediscover it and find new gems too.
