Mention the Edinburgh Fringe and a lot of people will think of stand-up comedy and theatre. But there are also plenty of shows dedicated to the music of some of the world’s greatest singers. Possibly the most popular of these singers is the late, great Frank Sinatra. And in the basement Bier Keller at Frankenstein’s, there is a show that pays the perfect tribute to Ol’ Blue Eyes.
Baritone singer Georg Tormann has the perfect voice and presence to take on this legend‘s catalogue of songs and the hour absolutely flies by as he takes us through the hits. The audience is invited to choose the songs that Georg sings and can dedicate them to whoever they want, meaning the show is different every night. As he sings Georg walks around the audience, drawing us all into his performance, making it feel very intimate. His singing is effortless, with a beautiful tone and plenty of power for the big top notes, and his natural charm ensures that everybody feels that he is singing just for them. Of course, he saves the biggest songs for the end, inviting us all to join in with the classics “My Way” and “New York New York”. The audience doesn’t have to be asked twice!
This is more than just a tribute to Sinatra, as Georg is not just doing an impression, he is bringing his own style to the music of one of the world’s most iconic singers. If you are a fan of Sinatra or you just want to spend an hour being serenaded in good company, this is the show for you.
