Edinburgh Fringe Chats (#137): Bryn Cash, NEWSREVUE

As anticipation builds for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025, we’re catching up with a range of exciting creatives preparing to bring their work to the world’s largest arts festival this August. In this series, we delve into the stories behind the shows, the inspiration driving the artists, and what audiences can expect. Today, we’re joined by Bryn Cash to find out more about her show, NewsRevue.

1. Can you begin by telling us about your show and what inspired it?

Our show is the Guinness World Record Holder for longest theatrical run of a comedy, and about to enter it’s 46th year! It tackles all the big news stories from throughout the year in a mix of quick, witty sketches and parody songs. The news is forever changing, introducing us to some bizarre and infuriating characters, so the inspiration is always there.

2. What made you want to bring this work to the Fringe this year?

NewsRevue has been a hit at the Fringe for the last few decades, so would be a shame to break tradition!

3. How would you describe your show in three words?

Topical, hilarious, WIGS.

4. What do you hope audiences take away from watching your performance?

I hope audiences are able to take some relief from our show! With all the negative news that’s coming out on a regular basis, it’s our job to spin it and bring some humour. Without a comedic perspective, the world would seem an even darker place right now.

5. What’s your top tip for surviving the Fringe?

My top tip is definitely pacing yourself. The fringe has so much to offer and is truly a unique experience with so much brilliant work on display. Take in and watch as much as you can but don’t crash out too early by trying to be here there and everywhere!

6. Where and when can people see your show?

You can catch us at 9.30pm from 31st July - 24th August at Ballroom at Assembly Rooms.
