Siblings: Dreamweavers at Shedinburgh Review
Real life sisters, Maddy and Marina Bye take to the Shedinburgh stage with their silly sketch comedy Siblings: Dreamweavers, which follows two inventors who have created a hat which projects scenes of its wearer’s deepest dreams.
The two sisters have an electric chemistry and thrive on attempting (90% successfully) to make the other break. It seems like an idea they constructed during childhood in their back garden, given a bit more pocket money, and one of Fringe’s most iconic stages.
The concept is good fun, involving the audience - who selectively get to wear the sieve dream hat contraption. The scenes are pre prepared, and Maddy and Marina, act them out, playing different characters in the dreamscapes. Seen as these moments are full of ad hoc humour and improv - I would have loved to see more personalisation in these dreams. Asking the audience what their dream is and then improv-ing off of that stimulus. The sisters are clearly wonderful comedic performers, and I would have loved to see them stretched a little further in this way - as the unexpected ad hoc bits were the highlights of the show and had the whole audience in stitches.
This show is so fringe that it is hard to see it fitting anywhere else - and that is why you should take the time to see this show - you won’t see anything like it away from the fringe environment. If you want silly humour with unexpected song, dance, and audience interaction - this is one of the more polished and successful performances at 2026’s Edinburgh Fringe.
