Divina De Campo to star in Ride the Cyclone’s London return
The celebrated British drag queen Divina De Campo will star as The Amazing Karnak in the return of the critically acclaimed Ride the Cyclone the Musical this summer. Returning to the Southwark Playhouse Elephant, the smash-hit musical received a record-shattering and sold-out UK premiere run in 2025.
Divina De Campo (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, The SpongeBob Musical) will join the previously announced St Cassian’s Chamber Choir including Grace Galloway and Josh Butler.
On joining the show Divina said: I am so excited to be joining this amazing vibrant cast for what is a hilarious and tongue in cheek musical. The songs are catchy as they come and the story is both tragic and side splitting, for the characters maybe literally! I am overjoyed to finally be on the Southwark Playhouse stage after seeing shows there and presenting more than a few awards to them too over the years!
Directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee, Ride the Cyclone is a darkly comedic musical that follows six Canadian teenagers from a chamber choir who die in a freak roller coaster accident and wake up in limbo. There, they encounter a mechanical fortune teller, The Amazing Karnak, who tells them they must compete through songs and stories to win a single chance to return to life.
