The West End has been home to countless legends over the years, but on a sunny 31st of August 2025, three of its most dazzling current leading ladies, Kerry Ellis, Louise Dearman, and Rachel Tucker, came together for the very first time in Gravity, a spectacular afternoon concert at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. With nearly 2,000 excited fans filling the historic venue, the atmosphere was utterly electric right from the first note.
These three women are queens of current British musical theatre, with unforgettable roles in We Will Rock You, Come From Away, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and, of course, the show that connects them all, Wicked. Their legacy shone bright throughout the night, starting Act One with a powerful Wicked medley and Act Two with the beautiful “No Good Deed”.
While the concert comprises two acts, each containing twelve songs, James Doughty, as Musical Director and arranger, has completed a phenomenal job in balancing all three women and their beautiful voices and talents with equal chances to shine and songs which best showcase their brilliant skills. The set list was varied and interesting. From classical musicals including Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady and Gypsy to more contemporary musicals including Waitress, The Greatest Showman and Death Becomes Her. Each of the trio had multiple solos, duets with the others and several medley ensemble songs. Their harmonies, belting power and phenomenal voices brought many in the audience to tears and led to a seven-minute standing ovation after the show had finished.
This was a beautiful concert of community, connection and sheer joy. The positive connection between the trio and the audience was beautifully electric and dynamic throughout. Along with the glimpses of their past experiences and reasoning for the choice in songs, this concert also equally celebrated the band of very talented musicians with their stunning use of “My Favourite Things” to introduce themselves and wow the audience equally. It’s rare to attend a concert that leaves the audience feeling so universally uplifted and jubilant after the curtain call, and to witness such wonderful teamwork between these stars.
Gravity above all was a celebration of friendship, of legacy, of the incredible talent and spirit that defines the best of the West End. If you love powerful vocals, unforgettable performances, and the kind of musical theatre magic that stays with you long after the curtain falls, this is the show for you.
