ED FRINGE 2023 REVIEW | I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical

A funny and warm-hearted ode to the world of musical theatre, ‘I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical’ will have you joyously belting out its bright and catchy songs on your way out the doors!

Garnering a standing ovation [deservedly so], the show offers the audience a glimpse into the ups and downs of theatre life — in front of AND behind the curtain — and reveals the truths of the art form in a way that’s satirical, yet honest.

We are presented with the naive drama school grad, the self-absorbed diva, the actor who is “so passé, and more in between, and each accompanied tune (written and composed by the stylings of Alexander S. Bermange) is brought to life by the sheer talent of the four performers - Jennifer Caldwell, Sev Keoshgerian, Rhidian Marc and Julie Yammanee.

Each performer transforms into their character with ease and charisma (a big feat considering some of the show's theatre-inspired roles are not so likeable in nature - cue in “the diva”), and together, the cast exudes natural chemistry, especially when their stunning harmonies are at the forefront.

There is an infectious energy that pours from the stage to the seats, and the audience gladly welcomes it, even when we’re being poked fun at for our unbearable theatre etiquette *wink*.

From the good notes to the purposeful bad ones, along with the lively dancing throughout, every minute of ‘I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical‘ is a treat!
