One of the most successful musicals of all time, Les Misérables is getting a millennial makeover like no other at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this summer! Pulling on inspirations from both the novel and musicals, Les Millénniables has been written by two writers of colour, Kelly Lynne D’Angelo and Ayla Glass.

A millennial crippled by student debt, Jean Valjean is ruthlessly pursued by Javert, who in this retelling is a Boomer and debt collector. Throw in a jam-packed score of hit songs from the past 20 years and you get yourself this unforgettable pop parody.

It’s guaranteed to make you laugh as this bright and perky cast brings this production to life. The flow of the notably well-known musical is still very much present and the interjection of a more modern story works in harmony with it. Some of the ideas in this American-style musical are ridiculous but, that’s all of the fun of it! It lands perfectly with the audience who can confidently understand the pace at which this show moves. A lot of modern themes and topic matter are very much intertwined in the writing, with the cast highlighting suicide rates and how we are on the brink of a huge revolution.

Les Millénniables is a great night out during the Fringe - packed with nostalgia, relevance and simplistic joy!
