Bridgerton star Geraldine Alexander to star in Much Ado About Nothing at Shakespeare’s Globe
Chelsea Walker will direct a production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Globe Theatre this summer.
The cast for Much Ado About Nothing includes Geraldine Alexander (Bridgerton, Netflix) as Sister, Matilda Bailes (Never Let Me Go, Rose Theatre Kingston) as Margaret, Marlow Chan-Reeves (Titus Andronicus, Hampstead Theatre & Royal Shakespeare Company) as Borachico, Fia Hadeed (The War Between The Land and the Sea, BBC) as Ensemble/Cover, Joshua John (Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s Globe) as Claudio, Assa Kanouté (Boarders, BBC) as Hero, Richard Katz (Mnemonic, National Theatre) as Dogberry Kaffe Keating as Seacole/Messenger/Cover, Os Leanse (Here There Are Blueberries, Stratford East) as Verges, Adam Long as Don Pedro, Jonathan McGuiness as Leonato, Pippa Nixon as Beatrice, Ken Nwosu as Benedick, and Joseph Potter as Don John.
William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy is about two contrasting couples: the witty, quarrelsome Beatrice and Benedick, and the young lovers Hero and Claudio. Misunderstandings, deception, and schemes—both malicious and playful—create conflict, but in the end, the truth is revealed, and love prevails.
Director Chelsea Walker says: “I’m thrilled to be back at the Globe, this time in the wonderful outside space, to direct one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays. And I’m particularly excited to be working with such a bold, talented and dynamic ensemble who I know will revel in its comedy, excavate its darkness and bring audiences along for the ride.”
The creative team for Much Ado About Nothing consists of Assistant Director Charlotte Vickers, Composer Angus MacRae, Costume Supervisor Jackie Orton, Designer Sami Fendall, Fight Director Kev McCurdy, Intimacy Director Lucy Fennell, Movement Director Aline David and Wellbeing Lead Brenda Moore-Whaite.
Much Ado About Nothing plays at Shakespeare’s Globe from 11 June to 24 October 2026.
