Embarking on a UK tour fresh from a run at last summer’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Alex Prescot delivers a toasty blend of joyful musical comedy and improvisation with his piece, Cosy. Running at 60minutes, Prescot’s quick-wit is perfectly suited to this one-man show which turns a simple primse into a brilliant night of comedy.
Cosy is immediately inviting, with Alex quickly striking up conversations with audience members as they enter the space. Some are even offered cushions to ensure they are comfortable before the show begins. The performance has two main threads that drive the production forward: Alex grapples with the loss of his double-act partner, Nick, to Australia, while repeatedly revisiting memories of his time at Musical Theatre Summer School (MTTS).

Through the interjection of coaxed stories and tiny confessions from the audience, Alex Prescot uses his musical talent to create new songs from these small nuggets. With just a piano, a ukele, a PowerPoint and a hands free microphone to support him, the result is genius, with waves of laughter filling the intimate venue in which Cosy was performed.
It’s a super dose of comedy to dampen any day. I’d highly reccomend catching this one on tour!
