Christopher Hall: A Work in Progress, Gilded Balloon Patter House Review

Written by Lauren Budd for Theatre & Tonic

Christopher Hall’s A Work in Progress was my first show at my first Edinburgh Fringe and what a perfect way to kick it off. I have seen Christopher on socials and was intrigued to see how he transferred to stand up. He not only kept up the punchy, silly, loveable energy but he took the audience through different parts of his life pre fame, the highs and the ‘lol’s - he brings a new, almost wholesome feeling to his show. He keeps true to the brand he has built with his fab facial and physical expressions and leans in to the ‘work - in - progress’ style, bringing the audience into the show with thoughts behind his work and responding to feedback. My favourite was a hysterical bit that was a bang on observation about Brit millennial culture, he laid it out so well my even French friends, who had no idea what he was talking about, enjoyed the self mockflection. Chris, I will certainly be coming to the finished show babes!

Christopher Hall: A Work in Progress plays at the Gilded Balloon Patter House until 24 August.
