Behold! is a wonderfully unhinged look into Amy Mason’s life, centred around the chaotic week before Christmas when she was hacked, lost access to her phone, and started receiving some very questionable gifts.
Very much an adult show, it opens with a story that immediately gives you a sense of what you’re in for. A mysterious package arrives on her doorstep, along with a card from her mum. Expecting something thoughtful and festive, she instead unwraps three rather large sex toys. Not exactly your typical Christmas present, and it gets a big laugh straight away.
Alongside the more outrageous moments, the show also touches on mental health in a way that feels honest and relatable. Amy talks about sending a slightly unhinged email to her psychiatrist asking for a top-up of medication, which somehow leads to two separate home visits but still no actual prescription. It is these moments that give the show a bit more depth and make the chaos feel grounded in something real.
Without giving too much away, Amy is a brilliant storyteller. The whole show feels like sitting down with a very funny friend as they talk you through a particularly chaotic period of their life. It moves easily between big laughs and more reflective moments, without ever feeling heavy.
It is unpredictable, a little outrageous, and genuinely very funny. If you are up for something a bit different and do not mind things getting a little chaotic, this is definitely worth a watch.
