John Proctor is the Villain to transfer to the West End
Kimberly Belflower’s John Proctor is the Villain will be back in London in 2027 following its sold-out run at the Royal Court Theatre, which concludes this week (25 April). The show will transfer to the West End, playing at Wyndham’s Theatre from February.
Directed by Tony Award-winner Danya Taymor (Broadway’s The Outsiders), this production is a reimagining of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible and follows five young women from a small town in America as they question everything they've been taught about power, relationships, and girlhood.
The creative team includes scenography by AMP, featuring Teresa L. Williams, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design and original composition by Palmer Hefferan, projection design by Hannah Wasileski, movement direction by Tilly Evans-Krueger, voice and dialect coach Gigi Buffington, and dramaturgy by Lauren Halvorsen.
The current Royal Court cast is led by Sadie Soverall as Shelby Holcomb and Dónal Finn as Mr Smith, with Lauryn Ajufo, Charlie Borg, Reece Braddock, Holly Howden Gilchrist, Clare Hughes, Miya James, and Molly McFadden completing the company. Casting for the West End transfer of John Proctor is the Villain will be confirmed in due course.

Belflower and Taymor said today: “Bringing John Proctor is the Villain to the West End is a true honour and profound joy for us, especially on the heels of its very witchy UK debut in the Royal Court’s 70th anniversary season. The play has been igniting London audiences, and we have fallen deeply in love with this great city. We are so grateful that our spells worked and more people will be able to see the play here – and come back again and again – at the incredible Wyndham’s Theatre in 2027.”
John Proctor is the Villain will play at the Wyndham’s Theatre from February 2027 for a limited 12-week season. Visit https://johnproctoristhevillain.com/ for future information.
