With the big Christmas Day fast approaching, any chance to be a bit more festive is welcomed with a big cracker pulling hand. Step in Sleigh Miserables, the so called Ultimate Musical Theatre and Christmas Cabaret at the Old Joint Stock in Birmingham.

Taking place for one more day on 13th December this show brings an excellent mix of festive and theatre with mash ups and stand alone songs as well as solos and three part harmonies from the extremely talented cast on stage.

Emily Hespe takes the host role in her stride, cracking jokes and making everyone laugh but with the belt to match, with a personal favourite being her rendition of Surabaya-Santa from Songs from a New World.

Caprice Lane, who last performed at the Old Joint Stock last year in Zanna Don’t, graced the audience again with her beautiful vocals singing stagey songs such as The Wizard and I, Never Fall in Love (with an Elf) as well as a stunning mash up of Silent Night and She Used to be Mine created by Musical Director Callum Thompson, who accompanied each song on piano and even added some backing vocals throughout the show.

Jack Carr, the third member of the talented trio, who made his professional debut this year at the Old Joint Stock in their production of Be More Chill, rounded out the vocalists perfectly with his rendition of Bring Him Home mixed with I’ll Be Home for Christmas in the second half being a mix I won’t forget any time soon.

With its mix of the stage and the sleigh, this cabaret show needs to be right at the top of Santa’s good list. There is two more performances next weekend on 13th at 3pm and 7pm. Get them before the sell out.
