American stand-up Jay Jurden makes a hilarious UK debut at London’s Soho Theatre. Bold, outrageous, and delightful, Jurden’s comedy never misses a beat with his razor-sharp delivery.
Covering typical first-date "no-go" subjects such as politics, religion, and sex, Jurden’s stand-up set is skillfully structured. He begins with clever, topical punchlines, warming the audience up before introducing more challenging material. Jurden clearly understands when to push the audience, when to reel them in, and how to round out his narrative tidily using callbacks masterfully. Overall, he balances audience involvement well, creating a comfortable atmosphere that guarantees a laugh a minute.
Performing at Soho Theatre until August 8th, Jurden proves himself to be an extremely likeable comedian, blending fast-paced wit and physical humour in a tightly woven set.
