One Day: The Musical announces extension to World Premiere in Edinburgh

Due to phenomenal demand, The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh and Melting Pot proudly announce an extension to the highly anticipated brand-new stage adaptation of One Day: The Musical will now run for an additional two weeks until 19 April 2026.
Based on David Nicholls’ critically acclaimed, global bestselling novel One Day, the brand-new musical with immersive on-stage seating, will premiere at The Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh in the very city where the book’s couple meet.
Leading the production will be Jamie Muscato (The Great Gatsby, London Coliseum) as Dexter, alongside Sharon Rose (The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Chichester Festival Theatre) as Emma.
Joining the production is Josefina Gabrielle (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cannizaro Park) as Alison Mayhew, Miracle Chance (Starter for Ten, UK Tour) Theatre) as Tilly, Kelly Hampson (Stiletto, Charing Cross Theatre) as Sylvie and David Birrell (The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe, Birmingham Rep as Stephen, Matthew McKenna (Phantom of the Opera, West End) as Mr Godalming, Dan Buckley (Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical, UK tour), with Peter Hannah (Wild Rose: The Musical) as Callum/Ensemble.
The cast is completed with Tanisha Butterfield (Sister Act The Musical, UK Tour), Ewan Murphy (Grease, Kilworth House Theatre) and Kirsty Anne Shaw (Evita, London Palladium).
One Day follows the story of Emma and Dexter, who first meet on the night of their graduation, 15th July 1988 – St. Swithin’s Day. Spanning over a period of twenty years, we return to them on the same day each year, and through joy and heartbreak, missed opportunities and second chances, they navigate love, ambition, and the unpredictable twists of life.
A celebration of love, fate, and the moments that define us forever, One Day: The Musical will feature a soaring original score, and the warm, wit, and raw emotion of the novel which has touched millions.
ONE DAY: THE MUSICAL has choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, Musical Supervision, Co-arranger and Musical Direction by Nigel Lilley, set and costume design by Rae Smith, lighting design by Bruno Poet, sound design by Simon Baker, orchestrations by Simon Hale, casting by Stuart Burt CDG, Orchestra Management by Andy Barnwell and Rich Weeden for BW Musicians Ltd.
One Day: The Musical runs from 27 February until 19 April 2026.
